Trans Oral History Project
The digital rebrand for the Trans Oral History Project, combines contemporary design with minimal imagery and retro bitmap textures, focusing on quotes, excerpts, and themes from the archive. This approach highlights the personal and collective stories within the trans community, creating a visually engaging and emotionally resonant experience for web and social.
As part of our social strategy, we partnered with designer @heartcore.24, to bring our first limited-run of shirts, produced sweatshop-free— as part of a fundraising initiative towards sustaining NYC Trans Oral History Project’s work and future programming.
Results: With over 250 orders in less than a week, the initiative created a +70% increase in TOHP’s annual fund, and a +90% higher engagement rate on the account from September through November 2023.
Social strategy included event branding and planning for Corpus Delicti, as Making Space at the Armory highlighted the NYC Trans Oral History Project in their latest public program. Thappening includes a series of panel discussions exploring topics including an examination of trans life through the lens of time, intergenerational voices telling their stories, and exploring the creative projects that have been born out of trans life. Additional on-site activations include media and reading rooms, and a sound installation.
